There is something special about the start of a year, something of a fresh expectation as to what God has in mind for us. It’s also a good time to remind ourselves of our position in Christ.
We need to remind ourselves that we do not have to work to get blessed. Our blessing is not something we need to earn; it’s something we need to receive.
Does that mean that I get to lie on the sofa with my feet up all year, as God pours out His blessings? Not exactly. But it also doesn’t mean that we have to work ourselves to the bone to earn the blessing.
So then how?
If we want to live in all that God has for us, we need to follow the direction of the Holy Ghost. It’s as simple as that. We need to follow God’s voice and God’s word. We need to choose the path that God has set before us and not the path of the world that entices.
Imagine it this way: God has given you all you need to prosper. He’s already set your future up and it’s good – the bible says so! (Jeremiah 29:11) He has chosen a path for you and this path is abundant in blessings, but in order to access and experience those blessings, we have to be on His path.
Too many times we keep changing our route, we swerve into other people’s lanes – lanes that appear so easy and fun. We compare and we covet and we forget that our path is ours alone, set before us by a loving God whose plans for us are infinitely better than anything we could begin to imagine.
This year, commit to staying the course, commit to drenching yourself in His Word so that you know what that course looks like, and be expectant for the abundant life that He has promised you.
Scripture: Jeremiah 29:11
Let’s read: “…Plans to prosper you and not to harm you…”
